A proposal for a group workshop followed with some reflections
IIBA Conference, Salvador, Brasil, October 2003
Objective
The objective of this workshop is to reflect about the place of energetic processes during and at the end of the therapy. We consider two fundamental issues: what is that what heals and what is that must be settled down at the end of the therapy.
The answer to the first question usually is that the essential of the cure is done by the surrender to the body or to its energetic processes. But, is this statement based in that what we can observe when someone (as a patient) commits itself to the proposed therapeutic method, i.e. to feel with all his being through breathing, movement, voice and words?
The second question is complementary to the first. What is the secure and stable source to which be related in order to keep a good functioning when therapy is over?
We will try to answer to these questions in this session.
Workshop’s setting
We will do this work following our therapeutic method. We don’t start from theoretical suppositions, but from the experience, obtained through corporal work.
Experiential part: An hour (in a group of no more than 20 participants)
We will start the search through breathing and movement with some group exercises. We will continue with pair work, going further in the exploration of what is desired with the whole being and that points to a source of satisfaction.
Theoretical part: an hour
We will share everyone’s experience. We will extract the essential of every expression and put it in a chart. Then we will confront it with the established outlines by the most known authors in psychotherapy.
We will share our experience about these issues.
A note for printers: A writing will follow this work after the Conference
